Catalyst handling

Jet-Vac Systems is a market leader in this application and our highly specialised equipment allows us to perform all types of catalyst handling operations, quickly and effectively.

Catalyst handling involves entering vessels or reactors which contain (but are not limited to) basic molecular sieves, activated alumina, nickel, cobalt and platinum catalysts, all of which need to be removed in conjunction with reactor internals. Once removed, repairs to reactor internals can take place before new or regenerated catalyst is reloaded and internals replaced.

As refiners come under increasing pressure to improve efficiencies, increase output and reduce reactor downtime, the need for experienced, safety conscious catalyst contractors is becoming more apparent.  At Jet-Vac our focus on and commitment to safety has ensured our position as a market leader in the catalyst industry.

We are very aware of the safety and environmental issues unique to this market and have developed in-house processes and training facilities to help our technicians consistently execute all operations safely, while still focusing on high quality and productivity. Our ongoing training programmes and the dedication of our teams ensure that we have an exemplary safety record and consistently exceed industry standards.

Jet-Vac Systems catalyst handling

Jet-Vac Systems catalyst handling operations include:

  • vessel entry
  • catalyst removing and reloading (atmospheric or inert)
  • internal repairs
  • catalyst screening, both on and off unit (inert)
  • nitrogen recirculation vacuum technology
  • mechanical bolting
  • hydro blasting – high and low volume
  • turnkey projects
  • Inert Entry Appreciation Courses for customers

At Jet-Vac Systems we:

  • have the necessary breathing apparatus and safety equipment to enable us to enter virtually any catalytic reactor vessel
  • operate a dual safe air control, ensuring that our technicians are supplied and monitored by two separate air supplies
  • operate a dual communication system, ensuring uninterrupted communication channels and monitoring
  • have built-for-purpose gas detectors to constantly monitor reactor atmospheres
  • monitor every entry of an inert reactor by video, providing additional safety and allowing inspection without entry
  • undergo annual medical checks to ensure that all of our highly experienced technicians are fit to work in these atmospheres
  • have a training reactor facility and classroom at our head office in Port Talbot for in-house and external training and awareness courses
  • continually evolve our health and safety strategies, enabling us to find increasingly safer and more effective ways of working
